“Stephen Harper’s governing Conservative Party will debate whether Canadians should be stripped of their citizenship should they take up arms against this country or its allies.”—
Steven Chase, Citizenship gone if Canadians fight against country’s soldiers, Tory convention to propose, Globe and Mail - May. 31, 2011.
Ugh, well take a look at one of the pointless proposals being shilled by the Harper Conservatives. There are a few more, but this one in particular is just fear-mongering and creating a pointless bogeyman out of our fellow Canadians. As well, how would such a law have worked in the cases of wronged individuals like Abousfian Abdelrazik or Maher Arar? It’s quite disconcerting and single-minded if you ask me.
“I may be wrong but in my opinion it appeared to be a well-planned coup to oust the old executive and replace it with a new slate of candidates…”—From Clyde King in @Western_Star.
Really, does working with a non-profit in Corner Brook like the SPCA really have to turn into some sort of grand conspiracy? Ugh, some times I wonder. Do people think we’re all this crazy if we write Letters to the Editor? :P
